When Monica and I moved to our home, some things were new to me. Fortunately, I had a very friendly and helpful next-door neighbor, Alan. Unsolicited, Alan helped me position our trash bins so they would be picked up. A month later our entire neighborhood lost power for most of the day. When power was restored, Alan showed me the location of the circuit box. It was in our garage, (I never had a garage before). Next, he helped me decipher the breaker box schematic. A great neighbor.
During subsequent conversations, I discovered that Alan was a professional boxer. Alan Sanchez is a welterweight who has fought 30 times with 23 wins that include 10 knockouts. I was able to photograph two of his training sessions for an upcoming fight. Shooting at a nearby park, Alan and his trainer Angel were backlite with bright morning light. It was over 90 degrees when they trained in Alan’s garage, so they left the garage door open. As a result, certain angles were backlite by the bright afternoon sun. Both were challenging situations.
I used a Nikon 50mm,f/ 1.8 S lens and a Nikon 14-30mm, f/4 S lens. I took advantage of being able to shoot 20 frames per second with my Z9 to keep up with the constant motion of Alan’s training. I shot over 1200 pictures in two days. Below are a few of the 600 finished photographs.
